Overview - Awards winning project (Including Asia Pacific Award ...etc)
Cambodia is developing quickly and when one of the country's most respected firms wanted to create a luxury watch experience in their flagship office building, they turned to HEAD Architecture. Timepieces' design speaks to the aspirations of Phnom Penh's growing wealth, while the environmentally-conscious layout shows their desire for a sustainable modernity.
B. Brief and Concept
1. To cater to the wealthy and aspiring in Cambodia's Phnom Penh, HEAD Architecture designed a signature watch shop inside Cambodia's first ever skyscraper. At 39 stories, Vattanac Capital Tower sets the standard for luxury in Phnom Penh. The building has already achieved LEED Silver Pre-certification and is pursuing Gold Certification, so the design had to be both modern, luxurious and environmentally astute.

C. Chosen Design
1. The final design embraces the store's situation below the sloping glass at the base of the structure and uses as much of the natural light as possible. Lighting is important for watch retailers and most resort to harsh lights that make the products sparkle but are uncomfortable for customer's eyes. With this natural light-led design, HEAD Architecture created a shopping experience that is easy on the eye in more ways than one. The elegant storefront boasts a full height glass wall and skylight, utilizing the shape of the building's steel frame, while a novel wine glass chandelier refracts and accentuates the sunlight above a central retail island. Not satisfied with creating an open, airy shopping environment, the design was updated to include a signature bar and lounge area to extend the attraction of the shop beyond a simple retail environment.
2. The major innovation in this design was the lounge and bar, a first for Phnom Penh retail. The wine glass chandelier is a unique item designed specifically for the bright sunlight of the shop's skylight and sloping glass wall.
