The clients have a lot of demands. For example avoiding being seen from east neighbor, parking in an invisible position from surroundings, hobby space, study space for their children that can see from living space, and a bright and open indoor space that can protect their privacy.
These are not special but applies to any family.
As a result of marshaling these demands, I divided the function of this house into three, those are the function of the place for individual, for family gathering, and for everyone use.
And I placed the three functions side by side from west side of the site.
By gradually lowering the height of the building from west to east, we blocked the sight line from the east neighbor, and we planned to get the morning sun in each space and get the south sunlight from between each space.
The place for individual is a hobby room, for family gathering is a living room, and for everyone use is walk-in closet and plumbing area.
I placed common spaces such as entrance, study space for their children and dining space between the three spaces.
Going through the common spaces, the client’s family gathers and goes away.
By incorporating outside areas such as parking and wood deck area into inside space, I made a connection with the outside between the three spaces.
And the connection makes each individual space feel bigger.
I believe that this house which is surrounded by three roofs is a house which the client does not have to worry about the gaze, and which is bright and open, and sometimes one can enjoy individually and sometimes all the family can enjoy in this house.
