Although I have been designing open concept floor plans for most of my career, more and more of my clients are asking for homes with a cleaner more contemporary/modern look. While the look is a cleaner, Hill Country Contemporary, the home is still livable. The home abounds with windows, and tall ceilings allowing for great natural daylight and natural ventilation.
The home built by Keith Durio of JKD Builders and his team did a wonderful job of selecting contemporary finishes and details. The Master Bath features a pedestal tub and a cool walk-in Shower, as well as high windows to all for natural lighting without taking away wall space. The stained concrete floor is understated yet compliments the natural tones and simplicity prevalent throughout the house.
All of the designs we do have a strong emphasis on the relationship of the indoor spaces to the outdoor living. The pool, outdoor living with a great fireplace, and outdoor eating area were all incorporated from the beginning. In the Great Room, details included the vaulted ceiling with beams, and the stone surround of the fireplace. The counter-top of the large island wraps down both ends to create a very simple and clean detail.
