The Thematic Pavilion is one of the main buildings of 2012 Yeosu Expo.The
builidng is featuring two main facades. The see front is referring to
cobbles and the operable façade facing the expo area and the main
entrance reminds of the kiemen of fishes. 108 operable lamella can be
adjusted to requirments of light and building physics. Additionally the
kinematic allows to run special choreographies and act as a movable eye
catcher and media façadeCentral idea of the structural concept is to
use a FRP lamella with defined stiffnes behaviour with a stronger and a
weaker vertical edge. Actuators at top and bottom of each lamella are
compressing the lamella asymmetrically which creates a deformation
outwards and sidewards. In result the façade is opening. Various LED illuminate the façade during night time and superpose the bending effect of the façade.
