Placed between the dense city and the sea, the project aims to fill the existing gap between the natural landscape and the city itself. Therefore, the idea is to draw back the beach in order to give at least 10m more to the sea sidewalk, that now appears undersized and not consistent with the actual users needs. The new sidewalk will become a strong trace on the landscape, that will stand as an element of decompression between the city and the beach. Moreover, the project is based on different layers that represent not only different functions but also different altitudes of the site itslef: the road, the cycle route, the sidewalk, the dunes, the beach facilities oasis, the dunes and the sea footbridge, each one identified by a different trace on the ground and different materials.
Thanks to the presence of the dunes, the project takes advantages of the different levels of the ground to create underground storage spaces, in order to replace the existing concrete structures with a more flex- ible and sustainable model of beach facility. Seen at the sidewalk level, these dunes appear as green hills. The natural element enters the project also thanks to the presence of oasis, green areas on which flexible and temporary beach facilities will be placed.
