The Wasp Nest universal unit can be used as an accommodation for one person, a hotel room, an individual office, a pet house or a house for street animals in reduced form. Units can be installed anywhere either separately or as complexes of whatever size and form.
Wasps build their nests, creating cells from wood, recycled by adding a secretion produced by their organism to a material similar to paper. The technology developed by insects inspired us to create our units.
The outer and inner walls of the Wasp Nest unit are made of processed wood, increased hardness, flexibility and strength of which is achieved by removing lignin [1]. Stairs and handrails are made of the same material. Similar to wasp nests air-containing paper cells printed on a 3D printer which are located between the walls are used as thermal and sound insulation. Outdoor panels are made by 3D printing of recycled plastic onto which moss is planted to produce oxygen. The windows are made of wood the transparency of which is achieved by removing lignin and adding polymers [2]. They are covered with special multilayer coatings [3] that provide electricity generation, so that the cell is energy independent.
