Qingdao Floating Island Park, designed with the principles of "integrating convenient facilities, revitalizing old urban spaces, stitching historical districts, and connecting urban cultural heritage," incorporates both bridge and ground spaces for landscape design and greenery enhancement.
Floating Island Park stretches from Weixian Road in the west to the Liaocheng Road parking lot in the east, covering a span of approximately 330 meters. It extends from the Licun Road parking lot in the south to Shichang Third Road in the north, spanning approximately 80 meters. The bridge surface is about 600 meters in length with an area of around 5,000 square meters. In terms of function and features, Floating Island Park is essentially a combination of a "floating island" and a "park."
Floating Island Park effectively utilizes the nooks and crannies of urban construction land, combining fragmented flat spaces with three-dimensional spaces. It creates a landscape that integrates transportation, sightseeing, and leisure while showcasing the city's image.
Qingdao's historical and cultural districts, such as Guantao Road Historic District, Dabaodao Cultural and Leisure District, and Shanghai Road-Wuding Road Historic District, each have unique characteristics. The Zhongshan Road commercial circle and the Liaocheng Road commercial circle complement each other. However, these areas are fragmented by busy roads, preventing them from forming a cohesive developmental synergy. The construction of Floating Island Park will connect and stitch these areas together, creating a multi-polar and mutually beneficial situation.
