Finding an imposing tree in the jungle is not a question that can be overlooked, when you have the task of designing a residence, immersed in the vast green of the Riviera Maya.
The 18-meter-high tree, characteristic of the region (Mastichodendron foetidissimum), has been the central focus of this project, which seeks to preserve the perimeter environment, achieving superb views towards the jungle, in one of the most exclusive developments of Playa del Carmen; for its proximity to turquoise beaches, and the presence of Mayan vestiges.
The façades of the Project, seek to have a strong visual impact in the darkness of the jungle, creating a light box, which is blanketed by the jungle in its interiors.
The distributor corridor, which is repeated on both levels, is detailed in its walls by an asymmetrical finish, which surrounds niches that may contain pieces of art, and serves as a link between the interior and exterior space, since the entire windows, opens completely to create a mixed environment, inviting the user to move around, either inside or outside.
We have been careful enough, that the views from the rooms look at the tree, and that the perimeter elements serve as support, to generate in the inner space, a sense of peace and silence.
"We have achieved a project, immersed in the jungle, which has respected other living beings, and that brings harmony and peace to our souls, while we drink a coffee observing the green vastness of the Mayan Jungle."
