The sky above Nagoya
Firm
A hybrid project above Nagoya, connecting the main areas of the city and giving citizens there own space, created just for them. Greatly inspired by japan´s infrastructural landscape, the project aims to become the people´s infrastructure, a highway just for pedestrians, featuring gardens all along the way, connections to the buildings around, changing the section to turn into a building to host event spaces, shops, restaurants, and also hosting the city services (gas, electricity, water, internet) in a structure included gallery.
The shape of the section changes depending on the situation in the city and the unique conditions and needs of the surrounding context.
Materials are chosen so the highway could be as light as possible, and the steel structure is created and calculated to define the space, both from the inside and the outside, and to be able to fly over 80 m. without rest, being earthquake proof at the same time.
A historical project for the city which aims to create a new way of think about citizens space, and to give back to them what now belongs to the cars.
