The SEED Foundation was given the vacated South Western High School and it’s 52-acre grounds for development of the public boarding school in 2007. The east wing has been renovated into appropriately sized classrooms, dining with commercial kitchen, administration and recreation spaces for the school of 400 middle and high school students.
The new student entrance, main gathering spaces, dining hall and library face a central outdoor green. the head of school’s office is located in a new tower facing the green, marking the entry to the building and providing an iconic feature for the school. Visible from the surrounding community, the tower will be dramatically lit at night serving as a symbolic beacon of the school’s presence in the community. An internal central space connects three levels of group activities: gymnasium, library, and auditorium. this skylight atrium becomes “town center” where all the students and faculty can gather.
