Located in the heart of Woodinville, Washington, The Schoolhouse District is a mixed-use, multifamily development that delivers an immersive community experience on a historic site. By retaining and restoring the site’s iconic schoolhouse and a portion of the Carol Edwards Center, the embedded carbon of the original structures was preserved, creating a catalyst for a new neighborhood. Standing side-by-side with history, The Schoolhouse District enhances the community’s existing character and charm while providing a vibrant new place to eat, live, and celebrate.
The community connects residents and visitors with dining and cultural attractions, sports and recreation, farmer’s markets and more. The District offers direct access to the Carol Edwards Center, Woodinville Sports Fields, Northshore YMCA and day care center, and a variety of retail including Wine Walk Row, with some of the best wines the area has to offer.
The project allows for historic context, with added vibrancy. Artwork featuring novelty items reclaimed from the historic schoolhouse are integrated throughout the buildings as a nod to the site’s heritage, creating an academic theme woven with historic imagery. The architecture creates a modern aesthetic rooted in local vernacular and woodland charm with views of the nearby Cascade mountains. The buildings are elegant against their surroundings, respectful of place, and sure to stand the test of time.
