Probably, we’re starting to enjoy the moment that we’re living in when we get rid of the
chaos of daily life. Just to stop, to remember how to breathe, to be lazy...
To be lazy!
“The right to be lazy” is a new breathing space which offers a right to stop the day for its own users who is living in an usual chaos and it gives a chance to them to touch the
‘natural one’. Minutes, hours, days can pass on it. It lets them breathe, touch the
nature, look at the sky; it reminds that you how to live!
Stop!
Look at the sky, breathe, and be lazy!
About the design:
It is strictly forbidden to have a picnic on the meadow of the project site, Besiktas
Sporcular Park. Therefore, you can see that lots of people are only sitting on small number of benches. They only use the cafe which is in the park as a recreational space, so nobody spend so much time on the grass or under the trees. In this context, “The Right To Be Lazy” aims to offer an informal behaviour to the usual/formal one.
It offers to have a sleep individualy or take a break by own or with a small group of people, because it’s just standing between a private personal area and a lively public space. On the other hand, it offers a different kind of playground with its big and white metal structures by providing a play-like sense.
The design basically consists of these three components; metal carriers, canvas surface and lightings with solar panels. The nine moduls which consist of different
combinations of three main components are located in different distances from each other to emphasise the sense of impromptu space. Canvas surfaces were attached to the structures in different angles in order to catalyse the informal behaviours such as lying or sleeping positions. The design gets its name from this attitude. It tries to create the space of being lazy. Lastly, there are nine solar panel lightnings on design to used to make the park 7/24 hours. It aims to save the park from the desolation problem for nights by consisting of the sense of safety.
