The Quint House is a thoughtfully designed home for a close-knit family of four who cherish their time together and enjoy hosting gatherings. The Studio Rust team was roped in when the space was a bare shell to craft a home that is both functional and visually striking, perfectly reflecting the family’s vibrant lifestyle.
The design harmonises the existing structure, seamlessly blending foreground and background elements. Each room is tailored to individual tastes, creating a welcoming home that aligns with the family’s unique needs.
FOYER
Upon entering, you’re greeted by a sleek foyer that sets the tone for the rest of the home. A cosy corner with a pair of wingback chairs, a wooden veneered console, and a vintage-inspired brass floor lamp invites you to pause and enjoy the warmth. Moving forward, striking metal wall art by SR Decorators and brass accents guide you through a corridor leading to the drawing room. The modern marble console and brass floor lamp seamlessly blend with the overall design.
DRAWING ROOM
The moment you step into the drawing room, the beige tones flowing from ceiling to floor create a refined, spacious atmosphere. A striking wall of Patagonia marble captures the eye, while rich copper inlays on the other walls add depth and sophistication. Expansive artworks, covering a significant portion of the wall, simplify visual complexity and create a harmonious contrast by allowing the background to recede
We used neutral-toned furniture to complement this intricate backdrop, achieving a balance between formality and warmth. Olive green accent chairs and a copper inlay centre table stand out against the subtle furnishings. A handwoven, tufted red carpet by Carpets of India introduces a vibrant touch, enriching the room’s overall aesthetic.
DINING SPACE
Moving from the drawing room to the dining area, the design narrative shifts dramatically. A veneered wood console separates the two spaces. We chose a dining table with antique brass legs and a black marble top to create a striking contrast with lighter elements. The layering of darker furniture pieces, such as the bar cabinet, with lighter chairs enhances the room’s visual flow and sophistication. Above the table, the Wagon Wheel Frosted Glass Chandelier makes a classic statement.
TERRACE
From the drawing room, the space flows seamlessly onto the terrace, blending indoor and outdoor areas effortlessly. A tree stands out against the clear parapet, chosen to remain the focal point without tall foliage along the edge. Framed by lush greenery, it provides privacy and a verdant backdrop.
We designed the terrace for flexibility, creating distinct zones for different activities. On one side, we arranged a wooden centre table with comfortable seating and a swing chair for relaxing and enjoying the view. On the other side, we added a bar cabinet for convenience during larger gatherings, making it easy to manage drinks and refreshments.
POWDER ROOM
As you move through the corridor to the powder room, luxury is immediately apparent. Brown granite surfaces with a glossy finish capture attention, while a gold pendant light adds a touch of opulence. Gold and brass accents further enhance the room’s luxurious feel.
MASTER BEDROOM
When entering the master bedroom, you’re guided by a small passage to a lobby area featuring a sleek black mirror and a chest of drawers that not only enhance functionality but also complement the beige walls.
As you move further into the master bedroom, the feature wall behind the bed steals the spotlight with its curved moulding panel and rich, silk-like wallpaper. This avoids overwhelming the space with artwork while offering a subtle contrast that highlights the panel. The curved ceiling design continues the theme of elegance. A hand-tufted blue woollen carpet adds a touch of retro charm.
The seating arrangement, designed for close family interactions, includes a two-seater sofa and a reading armchair positioned to take advantage of natural light from the front terrace. We included a multifunctional bed end that provides extra storage and a shoe cabinet. A slipstream fan completes the design.
FAMILY LOUNGE
From the foyer, the space opens into a serene family lounge that immediately enhances the room’s calming effect. As you continue, the navy blue sofa seamlessly aligns with the room’s design theme. We contrasted its richness with light, still-white fabric wallpaper to break up the monotony. The raw wooden centre table introduces an earthy feel, while the wooden armrest panels on the sofa enhance warmth. We also designed a versatile round table with two chairs to serve multiple functions, from dining to casual activities, without disrupting the formal living spaces.
The classical woollen tufted carpet underfoot, along with sheer curtains, creates a comfortable atmosphere. We designed elegant ceiling mirrors and included vibrant artwork to add a sophisticated touch. Moving towards the bedrooms, a family photo gallery on one long wall celebrates cherished memories, adding a personal heartfelt element to the space.
DAUGHTER'S BEDROOM
Stepping into the Daughter’s Bedroom, you are immediately drawn to the rust-coloured bed, which stands out against the subtle green and beige palette. This low-profile bed is thoughtfully designed to fit the space’s height constraints, extending gracefully from the wardrobe to the TV wall.
As you move closer, the bottle-green tropical wallpaper behind the bed introduces a rich depth and elegance, creating a striking contrast with the warm tones of the bed. Nearby, a pendant light with metal accents above the dresser casts a warm glow, enhancing the room’s ambiance.
In front of the bed, we included a chaise lounge for cosy lounging and TV viewing. Adjacent to the balcony entrance, a floor-standing mirror captures natural light, ideal for dressing and photography. The long balcony further extends the room’s visual space, introducing natural light and a touch of greenery. Despite the room’s challenges with limited wall space, we designed it to fully utilise every inch.
SON'S BEDROOM
Moving onto Son’s Bedroom, the striking tan-coloured bed immediately catches your eye as the room’s focal point. To incorporate the client’s preference for blue without overwhelming the space, we used glossy blue accents subtly through the TV unit and curtains, ensuring the colour is present yet remains complimentary.
We designed the room with a refined palette of tan, ivory, and brown leather. To harmonise these elements, we reupholstered the existing ivory sofa set from the lounge and added light brown leather bedside tables, perfectly complementing the tan bed.
On the wall behind the bed, we chose a subtle backdrop adorned with a few carefully selected frames to highlight the bed. A pendant light beside the bed casts a warm, inviting glow, enhancing the room’s cosy ambiance.
Moving further, we covered the walls and ceiling in the curved area with veneered wood to introduce warmth and texture. Soft ceiling lighting enhances this effect, gently washing over the space.
We included a modern black open bookshelf and a wooden centre table, adding both style and functionality. The symmetry of the side tables and lamps on either side of the bed creates a balanced and aesthetically pleasing atmosphere. The balcony space provides a pleasant view, completing the room’s design and making it a stylish retreat.
Overall, the Quint House strikes a perfect balance between visual appeal and everyday use. By combining vibrant, personalised touches with neutral backgrounds, each space meets the family’s needs while keeping a cohesive atmosphere. The design reflects the family’s dynamic lifestyle and their love for spending time together, making the home both aesthetically pleasing and functional.
