Stockholm’s most exclusive public square, Stureplan, has recently been complemented with a contemporary Palladian jewel box adapted to the high demands of the modern urban framework and the need to efficiently expose the latest brands.
At first glance, with its neoclassical monolithic form, ‘The Pavilion’, certainly sustains the classical Vitruvian principles adapted to its classical urban surroundings yet still allowing an innovative retail platform through its 360 degree transparent exposure.
Supported by 4 sturdy steel columns the framework supports large glazed shockproof anti-glare shopfront windows which allow maximum exposure of physical products interacting with the latest LED technology on large vertical screens within sleek mirrored cabinets. An installation floor conceals all MEP installations and the suspended ceiling the advanced suppressed lighting system and HVAC unit leaving the inner core unblemished with unnecessary distraction from the products and screens on display. Both floor units, screens and seemingly floating bespoke display shelves can be easily changed within a couple of hours allowing for immediate flexibility for the next tenant to access the building.
This intriguing space achieves both a lasting extenal impression as well as an ever-evolving retail platform inspiring the modern consumer to participate in a unique shopping experience.
The Pavilion certainly activates the modern urban environment adding a new dimension to the future showroom.
