In an era of relentless urban expansion, public facilities are too often conceived as isolated objects, detached from their natural surroundings. The Park in Vinh was envisioned to challenge that paradigm, dissolving the boundaries between architecture and landscape to create an open, living environment.
This vision stemmed from the client’s profound love for greenery and the design team’s conviction that a public facility can and should serve as a bridge, not a barrier. The guiding question was simple yet powerful: How can a community facility host complex functions and still remain nearly invisible - an extension of the landscape rather than an interruption to it?
From this question, the masterplan naturally emerged from the terrain. Functional areas unfold toward the lake, allowing the architecture to borrow and extend the beauty of the existing landscape. Subtle shifts in the massing create a refined rhythm, while hillside gardens soften the built form. At the summit, open terraces capture daylight and breezes, establishing an airy, tropical atmosphere that redefines how public spaces can coexist with climate.
The architectural skin reinforces this integration. Carved with porous openings, the façade filters sunlight during the day, reducing heat and glare, while at night it radiates a lantern-like glow reflected across the lake. These details serve a dual role - enhancing both environmental performance and the project’s identity as a community landmark.
The Park unfolds as a sequence of experiences rather than a single monumental object. Visitors move seamlessly between shaded gardens, elevated terraces, and open halls where water, greenery, and light are always present. This layered connectivity ensures diversity of use - spaces for gathering, recreation, and quiet reflection while maintaining continuity through the unifying presence of nature.
More than just a public building, The Park is conceived as a community landscape, a prototype for how architecture can enrich urban life. By embedding itself within the natural setting and responding sensitively to the rhythms of climate, it restores to the city a rare quality: spaces that are generous, shaded, and restorative.
In fulfilling this mission, The Park elevates everyday life by creating an environment where community and nature are inseparable. It is not a landmark to be admired from a distance, but a living landscape to be experienced and shared.
