The Palladium at the Center for the Performing Arts

355, City Center Drive, Carmel, IN, United States

YEAR
2011
*Designed in Association with: David M. Schwarz Architects, design architect and Artec Consultants Inc, acoustical and theatrical consultant.CSO
Architects was commissioned by the City of Carmel and the Carmel
Redevelopment Commission to serve as Architect of Record on The
Palladium at the Center for the Performing Arts.  The firm worked with
David M. Schwarz Architects and Artec Consultants Inc. to design the
only true concert hall in the region.  This cornerstone of the Carmel
City Center includes a 1,600 seat world class concert hall designed to
accommodate a myriad of music types.  The Palladium is based upon the
traditional ‘shoe box’ shape concert hall with high ceilings and
massive, sound-reflecting walls. The four-fronted, symmetrical design of
The Palladium, massed around the domed central space of the ‘single
room’ concert hall was inspired by Andrea Palladio’s Villa Capra, Lat
Rotonda (1566).
