The Paddock, a low energy house Co.Sligo
This bright, cheerful and energy efficient house is a culmination of several years of informal research and design development for low energy one-off houses by our practice.
The 3 bedroom timber frame house shelters from the Atlantic storms by tucking itself into the existing hillside becoming a natural part of the surrounding cluster of houses and farm buildings.
Carefully sized and located windows maximise views to the mountains and sea. Maximum glazing has been provided to the south onto the sun capturing courtyard which in itself provides warmth and shelter even on winter days.
The house was built in under 10 months to a very high specification within the tight budget allowed.
The dwelling achieves a high energy rating (B1) due to low energy input and subsequently low carbon emissions.
