"An urban oasis amidst the Garden City”
One of our noteworthy hospitality projects, the design for @The Oberoi takes cues from Bangalore’s tryst with nature. Completed in 1992, the hotel has been built amidst the existing flora of the city. Of the four and a half acres of the property, three acres were converted into a lush garden to create an internal green oasis.
The property’s 176 rooms face inwards, oriented towards the central garden to promote rejuvenation and inspire a sense of solitude. This orientation also cuts off the noise of the city and creates a sense of relaxation for the guests. Rows of stepped circular balconies span the façade, overflowing with potted plants and flowerbeds. This breaks up the building mass, while extending the garden above the ground plane to the upper floors.
The hotel has emerged as a fine example of how privacy and solitude can be provided right in the middle of the busiest street of a city, making it a true urban oasis of the ‘Garden City’.
