The new La Plana Market building adopts the triangular shape of the plot, resulting in three façades, each with a distinct character, enclosing a space of life and commercial activity.
On the main street, the large double-height space is enclosed by a glass façade, opening the building up and accentuating the main entrance. The other façades are built with architectural concrete panels, concealing the interior. The lower section of these panels becomes a vertical garden, extending the green space of the street.
The municipal market occupies the first level, taking advantage of the roof’s height and skylights that provide abundant natural light. On the lower level is the supermarket. The triangular form of the market allows for a connection between the levels through double-height spaces and offers a unique perception of the building. The underground logistical areas and parking, with loading and unloading zones, are accessed from the passageway, in a recessed area that preserves the main façade and pedestrian entrances.
