Mohammad-Shahr, the chosen site for this project, is located adjacent to the capital city of Tehran; where is more affordable for low income people to buy an apartment. To ease the transportation for commuters, some metro stations are deployed. Based on the urban situation, people’s lifestyle and revitalizing the concept of reconciling human and nature, the architect tried to create a pattern within which all the expectations fit.
“The building is called The Neighbor in order to be neighboring to the shading tree in the yard. We want it to be arose from the nature and tried to describe architecture as an alive paradigm.” -Said the architect.
One of the remarkable specifications of the project is using recycled materials in construction. The white façade is a product of combining recycled stone and cement. Also for the finishing of yard’s floor some residual of local stone has been used. That is how the architect planed the building to be constructed on a low- budget so people with lower income afford to buy an apartment in Homayoun Villa.
“We tried to bring the architecture into the homes of ordinary people who had forgotten the “Quality” because of its high cost. With the lowest expense we provide the maximum space quality for the dwellers to experience.” -Said the architect.
There are several characteristics that best describe the essence of this design:
Communication: The interior communal spaces provide the opportunity for the residents to easily communicate each other, as well as let their children play and study together while they have a pleasant outside view. Shared library and playground provide new definitions of the neighborhood as opposed to most of the current modern apartments that are built all over Iran, within which residents have almost no communication.
The yard is designed to be major. The walls are short so the neighbors can let themselves inside and rest under the shade of the tree and have a friendly chat.
Diversity: Order is nature’s quiddity. In this project, the architect looks for creation of inner order based on diversity as well as harmony. Reducing repetitive elements and using a modular design system resulted in a variety of different apartments, both in the structure of the plan and the exterior facade. Each apartment has its own unique plan, makes the owner pleased by its uniqueness. Different spaces of the building have different view, leading to careful design for the windows.
Originality: Everything seems original here. All the spaces are designed based on a function, and there is no useless space in the whole building. The happening incidents are the reason why the space has been formed.
Being a home: The architect put his effort to create a home that best fits to a family’s needs. The apartments have enough amount of daylight and terraces are like private little gardens that have a great view to the city.
