Entropic in collaboration with studio4SPACE has proposed a mixed use including a library and kindergatten in the Józefów Municipality in the outskirts of Warsaw. The plot is located in the very unique, green scenery, full of old and tall pine trees creating small forest in the middle of very residential area.
When designing the hybrid building we looked into different spatial requirements and specificities of each program. In order to match the adequate parameters and provide maximum user comfort, the building consists of 2 volumes, each perfectly tailored for its function. The volumes join together creating the gate to the forest, newly discovered park in the remaining part of the plot, and at the same time create entrance point to the rooftop playground and auditorium.
The library is displayed along Asnyka Street, contributing to the
attractiveness of the street and visibility of the building. It also minimizes the need to interfere with the existing densely populated trees. The building opens to both the urbanized side and the park/forest. Kindergarten is located in the deeper part of the plot, assuring safety of the kids and interaction with the greenery. All classrooms are facing the forest and the orientation provides good day light conditions.
The set back of the kindergarten creates the corner plaza, the entrance zone to both the buildings and the park, the place where the various functions intersect, a new meeting place for the residents of the municipality.
