Orchestrating a flow of spaces to translate the client’s distinctive lifestyle, we conceived the plan around a large stage area for rehearsals. Behind the stage are private areas for sleeping, bathing, and working as well as the stair that accesses the penthouse. In front of the stage are multiple sitting areas, a bar, media area, and fireplace garden. Areas for eating and entertaining are defined by the intersection of a walkway evoking a runway, lined with landing lights. There were no requirements for guest bedrooms; the kitchen was placed in an alcove behind a large sliding insulated wall, almost never to be used. A 400 square foot penthouse with hot tub and sauna provides access to an urban rooftop garden and quiet non-media space.
