The Mukono Project

In 2008, Orkidstudio was founded upon the huge success of 'The Mukono Project' which provided a new kitchen and communal space for the New Hope for Africa Orphanage and School in the Mukono District, near the Ugandan capital of Kampala. The design enabled effective rainwater harvesting which now serves the orphanage and local community with the only source of clean running water all-year-round. Since its' completion, the kitchen has become a local landmark and is the pride of the community, becoming a focal point for social activity on a Sunday following the morning church service.
