‘Monolith’ is defined as a stone volume that consists of a single unit. This concept fits perfectly with the house that we were asked to redesign, in the rural area of Kampos in Paros. This house consists of a single volume (monolith) that stands out within the 4-acre plot. The plot offers plenty of space for a variety of outdoor activities. This is the source of inspiration of our whole architectural proposal. In the center of the plot area there is the house. It has been fully renovated both internally and externally to achieve optimal ergonomics and aesthetic. Many traditional materials were used for the renovation of the building. Plaster, wood and reeds, all materials that constitute the backbone of Cycladic architecture. The outdoor life of the house with sports, leisure, catering and wellness activities, seals the unique experience of staying at “The Monolith”.
