The project consists in the restructuration of the mill, part of the historic heritage and emblematic building of Mont-de-Marsan, in order to turn it into the tourist Information of Marsan. The building is set in the heart of the town, at the junction of the Midou and Douze rivers , and maintains a priviledged connection with the scenery of the river banks currently under redevelopment.
The purpose of our intervention is to modernize the mill to set up an attractive and visible program while preserving the architectural unity of the site. The existing building has been preserved on account of its qualities and for the sake of economy, while improving its functioning and its relation to the restructured site.
An added façade, folded origami-like, offers immediate identification of the tourist office and gives visibility to the foundation at the angle of the square, since the openings have been kept. The new front window of the tourist office, made of printed glass, has been designed like a transparent animated façade establishing some interaction between the inside and the square.
Inside, ribbon-like sequel of furnitures leads the visitor to the various points of the office, the reception, the shop, the digital area. A gallery looking on the Midou provides a multi-activity spot, for relaxation, free consultation, and exhibits.
