The Landing is a 178 unit building on 1.782 acres in Walnut Creek, California. The project aims to enhance and activate the pedestrian connection and experience from Lacassie to the corner of Ygnacio Valley Road and down Oakland Blvd. TCA utilized the natural sloping topography in the design to minimize the impact of the density and establish a strong contextual relationship with the vastly different surrounding environments adjacent to the property. The architectural design of the building is contemporary in style and appointed with materials and setbacks to break up its mass and create a strong statement of “entry” to Walnut Creek. Varying wall planes, contrasting materials, and large storefront windows will create a visually distinctive and interesting façade to activate the building. The building is four levels of residential units over one level garage (on-grade) and one level of garage (subterranean,) all of which is oriented around a central courtyard located across the street from the Walnut Creek BART station.
