The Hoxton Lantern was designed with the intent of developing a creative lighthouse within the surrounding cityscape. The glow of light that emanates beneath the laser-cut fabric acts as a source of inspiration, warmth and beauty for its surroundings. It performs as a local landmark, a varied place of interest from many vantage points and a source of identity forged in innovative hope for the future. The Hoxton Lantern’s value is derived and interpreted by the experience of the viewer’s context. It’s a warm lantern to light a cold day, or a place to inspire the curiosity of future designers, architects and the like. The shape of the lantern itself is modelled from the site beneath; honouring its form, but also extruding it into the sky. Sometimes, we all need a bit of a guiding light; whether that being amongst a watery sea or within a sea of buildings and people. The Hoxton Lantern is a welcoming and imaginative rooftop lighthouse
