The House Of Silence
The dwell, reflection and place
The project is located in the city of Quevedo, province of Ecuador. With approximately 16 thousand inhabitants has become one of the large conurbations of the country. Its high commercial potential makes the city an attractive economic but in turn an attractor of noise.
The search for refuge and rest of a man of 85 years field encourages generate a forest in the city, where it is imperative the practice of silence to understand and listen to substantial aspects of the habitat and life. We usually spend most of our days involved in external noises, so be linked with the nobility block material, tropical timber, water and the rock, are necessary aspects to be heard.
The relationship and the value of family intervention was essential to develop the morphology of the project, which consists of a central space linked to the outside, where their grandchildren play; and in turn, with two rectangular volumes that host service programs, leisure and rest. This space with amalgam the conceptual material and spatial; as a sort of meditation space cross zenithal light toward its central garden, illuminating as well, a tree as a symbol of the time to run. On the other hand the water is expressed as a generator of peace, growth and its fluidity conjugates with intentions of bioclimatic effectiveness, cooling the air in the house to drop, from the inner garden toward the rooms and common areas.
In this way the dwell is a house of routes and spaces to discover, where architecture invites us to reflection from the place...in the moments of silence.
