When they came to see us, our clients were desperate because their budget didn’t fit the needs of the site they’ve chosen, located on a steep slope in the Alpine valleys.
The key solution was to eliminate any costs of ground movement and reinforcement.
That’s how this house came to life, supported on steel stilts, standing on the rocky part of the slope.
We proposed a « slice of Chalet » standing on a steel squeleton!
The house’s profile imitates exactly the local architecture.
The main living floor is designed as a single volume.
Here as well, all the window modules can be slid.
And sliding a polycarbonate window transforms completely the perception of the place.
When it’s closed the space takes profit of a white translucent light while the views are framed into small patterned square windows.
But once opened widely, generous spectacular views on the valleys appear.
The whole place is transformed into a large balcony.
