The guidelines for designing the House in 7 days focused mainly on the interior design. The clients provided a lot of inspirations in form of photographs of interesting arrangement solutions. The guidelines concerning the building itself or its functionality were very modest. Initially, as a starting point for the design of the building, this could seem to be at the very least an incomplete piece of information. Nothing could be further from the truth. The client gave the key information about how he would like the immediate surroundings around him to look like - the rest was taken care of by the architects.
The building consists of three functionally separate parts, which is reflected in its shape - fulfilling one of the main principles guiding the designers of the Z3Z ARCHITEKCI: The form follows the function.
The first block is the entrance zone, which consists of an entrance to the building, a wardrobe, utility rooms, a garage and a kitchen. The kitchen at first may not be fully associated with the entrance zone. However, in many traditional houses there is a need for the kitchen to have a view of the driveway and the entrance to the plot.
The second block is a leisure zone. There is a recreation room with a TV, a fitness area with exercise equipment and a sauna. The above two blocks are connected by a glass connector, where you can find stairs to the upper floor and a meeting place for household members with a fireplace visible also from the living room.
The upper floor is the night zone in which the residents' bedrooms are located.
The solid scheme is reflected in the façade materials, which consists of black fibre cement slabs, grey stone slate and white plaster. Elements which are "carved" in the solids are emphasized with wooden planks.
The building was constructed in the prefabricated wood technology, which provides a very good heat transfer coefficient of the building. However, this technology forced the contractor to introduce a few changes, such as the posts supporting the roof of the terrace - which could be avoided with the reinforced concrete technology.
Some sources say that the construction time of such house takes about 7 days. It should be noted, however, that this is only the time of wall elements assembly, which were previously brought to the construction site, after the execution of the reinforced concrete foundations of the building. This is a very impressive stage of the construction, when the house grows out of its foundations in just a few days. Nevertheless, the process of preparing the design of the prefabricated walls' structures and their production itself is a months-long process. To the raw state described above it is of course necessary to install window and door joinery, make internal installations, façade, finish the interior, etc. which takes a similar amount of time as in the case of other construction technologies.
