Winner of the RIBA East Residential Design Spirit of Ingenuity Award 2011
GAGA Sustainability project of the Year 2011.
The client for this stunning new build home on the River Bure wanted to leave a legacy for their family and the environment.
Replacing a dated holiday home, the new dwelling and boat house provide a contemporary and sensitive design for this prominent riverside site. The design incorporates the largest use of the innovative Accoya timber in the UK to date, being used for the cladding, decking and also a dramatic sculptural entrance screen to the rear.
The Accoya forms part of the Flood resistant construction and design which are at the heart of the sheme. This in conjunction with high insulation levels, photo-voltaic panels, ground source heat pump and lifetime access, makes for a truly sustainable family home.
