The hall
The project is a speculation of event hall space in Beijing, China. It is an aggregation of various event halls into a sequence for public to visit and engage. People celebrate every important moment in their life , from baby showers, birthday parties to wedding , promotion banquet, divorce and funeral, where family and friends identify with each other and the bigger collective community. The aggregation of programs appears surreal. However, it deeply aggregates and reflects the ritual and feast culture in Chinese society. Chinese people host great feasts for those events ,to validate their social status, attract other people's attention and seek recognition from the immediate social networks.
Therefore this cultural is an inventive program for event , culture and banquet. It is intended to respond to the collective value of ritual and feast culture in China, but could apply across the globe for a prototype of event hall. People could access the hall from the ground to visit the baby shower hall and winds up to the top of the hall ( the weeding hall). Different event halls is arranged according to the life chronology along the circulation journey. Th ramp space connects all event halls , staring from life birth, adult ceremony , higher education , graduation party , to wedding, promotion, birthday party, blessing hall to funeral. Through the museum-like visiting path, people speculate others' life event while hosting their own event. Everyday the entire hall is open to public and individual event space accepts two reservations. There are 12 halls in total and could host maximum 24 events per day. Event space is increasingly needed in highly urbanized areas, from personal , cultural to commercial events. This hall corresponds to that need and invent a new scenario of a combination of event and visiting.
