The gently angled and layered terrace design of this Mosman house evokes the natural sandstone ‘crags’ of Sydney’s coastal regions, while the proposed materials of lightly coloured off-the-form concrete, natural timber louvers and sandstone re-used from the original house create a simple and clean composition settling comfortably into the leafy hillside. The design is complimented by a rambling native landscape that ties the house to its steep site, recalling the original rock faces of the region.
