The Grange invites guests to encounter the Willamette Valley through authentic, wine-centered experiences with a distinct Oregonian identity. Hewn from Willamette Valley natural stone and black walnut, the building forms are rooted in a timeless agricultural vernacular. Their shapes are tucked into the hillside between vineyards, engaging unparalleled views of the Willamette Valley and the Cascade Mountains beyond. Restored oak savanna fills the space between vineyards, winery, and owner’s residence, re-establishing a connection to this land’s earlier state. The result is a sense of arrival, prospect, and belonging - a feeling that these structures have always been here and will remain so for years to come.
Situated on an active vineyard, the two new structures of the Grange are working buildings, supporting the agricultural activity this region has become well known for. Building exteriors of the winery and owner’s residence are clad in Western Red Cedar evocative of a 1920s barn, with interior finishes in Douglas Fir, White Oak, and blackened steel. The genuine material palette redefines luxury.
The Grange Winery includes a tasting room, winemaking hall that also hosts events, wine cellar, library, and an intimate winemaker’s dinner experience – Anthology. Hosted by James Beard award nominee Chef Chase Williams, the dinner is a series of personal stories woven through local ingredients and fine wines, finished and plated in front of the guest’s view. Handmade ceramic tile, raw brass fixtures, and live-edge custom black walnut casework ground the space, with branches and dried vegetation from the grounds artfully hang above. Every glass, dish, utensil and textile has been carefully selected from regional artists and fabricators to further emphasize the rich sense of place.
The welcoming hearth anchors the main living space within the nine room owner's residence, known as the Grange Estate. Its shared kitchen offers a comforting and well textured place to enjoy a coffee, while the curated library holds a wealth of local guides and historical tomes. Vintage Oregon photography, maps and botanical studies grace the walls alongside a custom-woven Oregon State flag tapestry. Each of the nine rooms, named after local soils, are completely bespoke and overflow with vintage furniture and art. Heated terracotta flooring in the generous bathrooms, tiled in-room gas fireplaces, and a copper soaking tub make for a cozy and relaxing stay.
The Grange reflects a commitment to authenticity of place, showcasing Oregon’s natural beauty. From the invitation to enjoy a glass of wine and a sunset from the Adirondack chairs on the covered porch of the Estate or to take a wander down the trails to see the kitchen garden and ripening grapes, the Grange draws you into a deeper experience of the Willamette Valley.
