The Goodwin, a newly opened wine bar and café in the heart
of the West Village, a venture owned and created by Richard Wise and Andre Jones. Their vision was to create a space where
customers would feel comfortable whether they walked in for the first, or
one-hundredth time. To achieve this, they hired their long-time design
collaborator Larah V. Moravek (LVMinc) to keep the integrity of the 1845
landmarked building, inside and out. Most of the materials are used in their authentic
state capturing the building’s life and
natural beauty.
Outside LVMinc designed metal planters with an integrated
menu display which sets the mood as guests enter The Goodwin. The storefront is restored in a warm mahogany
wood, with custom Moore & Giles navy leather banquettes nestled into the
interior side of the
windows. The center pivot windows can be
hinged open allowing
connection to the interior
and sidewalk beyond.
