Asialand has designed & constructed the Fern House. This contemporary home features a concrete finish.
Cheng & Catherine are a fan of concrete architecture, and wanted a tropical house in reinforced concrete, a balcony where they could rest & glaze upon the scenery of the neighbourhood, internal walls finished in white putty, open feel but yet enjoy privacy.
This house characterises the family. It's solid front belies an interior that's open & transparent; beneath its cold concrete shell is a sanctuary of heart-warming dwelling spaces. It is a manifestation of great collaboration between the family & the designer.
Entry to the interior is a procession through a vestibule, greeted by cascading leaves dangling & a lush green oasis garden of staghorn ferns.
Landscape is integral of the architectural design to complement the raw concrete, the Bucida tree serves as sun-shade & the bird nest ferns as a space definer for the house.
