The Fairview Passive is a small, single-family residence designed for passive solar, with zero energy use, foam-free, and as a peaceful haven engaged in its natural surroundings. The project was modeled to meet the Passive House US Standard and is successfully over-producing energy with a 8.8 kW rooftop solar array. This is the owner’s primary residence, and being budget-friendly was a necessity. The simple footprint and open first-floor plan create a spacious living area with beautiful views and can be easily heated and cooled with minimally sized systems. The second floor is also compact, providing views and solar gain to the bedrooms, with mechanical and utility spaces located along the north wall.
