Gold, luster
and splendor- this is how we see Moscow. But it’s also shocking contrasts and
contradictions - this is where the Soviet past collides with
the capitalist future, poverty with incredible luxuriance, modernity with history…
We wanted our ‘new face’ to bring those features together with biggest respect
and delight over this occurrence.Pushkinsky
Cinema located in a very heart of Moscow is one of those icons that over the
years has lost it’s charm and prestige. Such a favorable location challenges us
to make it shine like
a ‘diamond’ in urban space of the capital and in its citizens’ life. We want to bring back its past glory and
admirable character. We want to make it shine and sparkle again. We want to give
it glamour and brilliancy so that it becomes a true piece of jewelry for the
centre of Moscow and its cultural life.
As a
generation observing rapid political and social changes as well as degradation
of past icons, we don’t want them to disappear without trace. With respect for
this beautiful example of modernist/socialist architecture we decided to keep its
monumental form and give it a new dress.
We imagine
the building as a theatre - not only because of association with the form of
the facade but also because of various events that had taken place around it
and its constantly changing scenery.
