The renovation of an existing hotel and meeting center
building, Executive Tower, into the chic and popular Curtis Hotel
and Corner Office Lounge was no easy feat. The hotel consists of sixteen floors
and a total of 178,427 square feet. Every inch of the building was either
renovated or replaced to maximize efficiency and design intent. This includes
over 20,000 square feet of function space divided into fifteen meeting rooms
including two ballrooms with a capacity for up to 435 people. The lobby has a
60’s retro-look and vibe which was integrated throughout the hotel.
The Corner Office Lounge stretches beyond the usual “hotel
restaurant” to establish a ‘to be seen in’ scene. A green glowing glass entry
vestibule with custom blackened steel entry doors sets-up for the playful
experience.
The bar + lounge is a throw back to the 60’s coffee shop
with cantilevered bar stools, a segmented bar, and modern twists of the tweed
and vinyl fabrics used in that era. A curved booth along the contoured
teak-slat wall and oversized red globe lights set the bustling scene in this
space.
The front dining room is laid back but a visually playful
area with an upswept mosaic tile wall, curved high-gloss white ceiling panels,
exaggerated height booth backs, a clock wall showing it’s “always 5-O’clock”,
and an art composition made from rubber band balls.
The private dining area, an elliptical shaped room, is
separated by an eye-catching ball-chain curtain – it merely gives a sense of
separation from the dining and bar area without exclusivity.
