The Capitol | Social Housing in Turin
The
implementation of the new axis of Corso Marche is the completion of the urban
transformation of Turin.Carrier of the recovery of this part of town is the
construction of a long avenue of about 6 km between the lookout on the Dora and
the new square Mirafiori. The new course Marche will be intersected in several
places with existing infrastructure system: precisaly these points,
characterized by improved accessibility, focusing on areas such as the City is
betting. This is mainly the recovery of large unused spaces near the industrial
areas. This will allow the creation of new districts, including the abandoned
area of Alenia Aeronautica and the Capitol, as defined by Augustus Cagnardi
(author of the masterplan of Turin) between the Gru Shopping center, in the
city of Grugliasco, and the Bertone and Pininfarina factories, in Turin.
The project materialized by MOGGmodels involves the
construction of a "green lung": the area in fact, an industrial feel,
is completely devoid of gardens for use by citizens. From the analysis of the
urban fabric is was decided to maintain the alignments of the pre-existing and
vehicular traffic on the outside, creating a directly communication between the
park and the future construction. The matrix of the project is a particular
combination between the buildings of the
Covent Garden and Lillingotn Gardens in London, however, developed according to
the philosophy of Low Rise High Density. Because of its flexibility, the
project allows you to compose different cuts of housing for different types of
users (students, young couples, elderly, etc..) thus avoiding the phenomena of
social isolation. It finally provides a redevelopment of the surrounding areas,
figuring to make the whole area more attractive.
