Set in the centre of Thailand’s buzzing capital city, The British Club is an oasis of calm and tranquillity. The British Club Bangkok is the social, sports & cultural centre for the city’s English-speaking community. Families, sports enthusiasts, business people and relaxation-seekers can all enjoy a wide range of sporting and social activities, lunches and convivial drinks, all in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The club is a symbol of strong and long-standing relations between the United Kingdom and Thailand.
The driving force behind the concept is the investigation of the geometry of the Union Jack and understanding how that geom¬etry can be manipulated to discover exciting contemporary forms that can be expressed through the architecture. By dropping the iconic Union Jack over the massing a clear architectural language is established. We allow the forms to be dictated by the unusual geometry of the distorted Union Jack. A series of bold clip-on architectural elements create a unique facade. Using a mixture of aluminium, composite wood, perfo¬rated metal and vertical gardens, the facade is a striking mod¬ern icon for the British Club Bangkok.
A comprehensive design solution that accommodates the needs of the British Club and its members. Functionality is the main driver behind the design, with clear and understandable planning and spatial arrangements. Modern flair is expressed through protective architectural facade elements that add charisma and modern charm, creating a new icon for the British Club Bangkok.
