Quarry Bay Investments Inc. in partnership with Calgary Co-op is undertaking the Planning, Design & Construction of the Oakridge Co-op Redevelopment.
SAHURI has been involved from earliest master planning phase of this project. This redevelopment includes a new Calgary Co-op Grocery store; main floor retail spaces that will include restaurants, a coffee shop, and other retail amenities to service the community; and residential development within the site.
The largest component on the site is the addition of the 23 floor, 452 unit residential complex above the retail space, with both rental and condominium suites anticipated.
The design team has worked to manage the density on the site and the impact on the adjacent community. To minimize the impact, we have aligned the bulk of the building along the North South axis. This minimizes the shading on the community and moves the highest densities toward the adjacent roads.
The stepped form of the building also works to reduce the perceived mass while providing an opportunity for penthouse suites along the entire length of the building, with large roof terraces and south sun exposure.
The design team has worked to maximize the density on the site and minimize impact on the surrounding community.
