The colourful concrete sculpture ‘The Big Wave’ was installed at Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe 2019 in Western Australia – one of the world’s largest public sculpture exhibitions. Intended to be a celebration of the act of riding a wave, the sculpture's colours correspond to the colours associated with the elements of a big wave - white (seafoam), yellow (sand), turquoise (shallow water) and marine blue (deep water). Its low-lying geometric wave form - at the intersection between sculpture and urban furniture - provided opportunities for rest and play.
