1. prize - 2005The Beauvais site is a highly polluted former industrial site, located on the edge of the dense urban city and an open landscape area bordering the suburbs, close to one of Copenhagen’s busiest intersections. The municipal plan calls for residential and commercial space as well as the establishment of much needed recreational and urban qualities. The project takes form as five free-standing towers, resting on columns over a lush and varied landscape, connected by an elevated network of broad, winding paths. The idea is to provide the quarter with a strong, independent identity that can hold its own next to the large scales and high speeds of its surroundings, all while creating a characteristic urban portal marking the start of Lyngbyvej freeway at Hans Knudsens Plaza.
