The brief of this project was to give the house a face-lift in time for the clients to help celebrate their daughter’s wedding. Attention was directed at revitalizing the kitchen and repurposing an underutilized dining room into a gentlemen’s retreat, complete with record player and footy jumpers.
The kitchen needed to be straightforward, functional, and easy to maintain, without feeling cold. A material that is hard-wearing but surprisingly full of character was used throughout, for doors and bench-tops alike, and the galley space was reorganized around a social island. The boys’ bar is made with the same material and details, and removing an existing wall visually links the new elements within the original house.
Phase 2 will include a new pergola and pool landscaping to amalgamate the indoor-outdoor entertaining spaces.
