The Baptists Church in Kirkby, Nottingham, is a charming, modest building.
Originally single storey, the chapel was extended in height in the
1800’s. There is an adjacent cottage which formed part of this
development. The buildings have stood empty for many years, and have
therefore been subjected to weather damage and vandalism.
Our brief was to convert the chapel and adjacent cottage into
three dwellings. With planning restrictions, the front elevations were
kept fairly modest and in character. However, we added sun room
extensions to the rear with ‘cathedral’ type glazing to take advantage
of the views; and provide a ‘wow factor’.The project has not yet started however the developer has recently requested an architects certificate which will certify that the projects construction has been properly monitored at various stages along its development.
