"Never forget" is the theme of the proposed memorial, commemorating the loss of over six million lives. Comprised of two curved walls sixty feet high forming an oval, the visitors navigate through an opening ten feet wide. These walls are made of corten steel whose natural property is to rust. Inside the memorial, the words "Never forget," and Atlantic City Boardwalk Holocaust Memorial (in both English and Hebrew) are etched into the black concrete of the ground. At the top of the oval, this text is also cut into the steel allowing light and shadow to be inscribed on the wall suggesting absence and loss. The changing condition of the light and the oxidation of the steel create a situation of constant flux. Six lights on each side of the wall emerge from the ground and wash the surface of the wall with light. At night, these lights create a dramatic effect. The memorial is set in a gently sloped platform that is bounded by benches for rest, reflection and meditiation.
