The architectural concept for the reconstruction of the Baking Factory "Prostor" was made as part of the national competition. Arch Group company took the third winning place.
Concept.
The challenge we has faced during projecting was the renovation of Bakery Fabric with the idea to change its appearance from typical industrial building made of pre-fabricated panels to the new modern one in the same time saving the industrial typology to make sure that it doesn't look like an office or a commercial building. More over the appearance of the Fabric should be unique and describing the function. In the same time taking in attention the big facades' surface we had to creat an economically reasonable solution.
Solution.
Two main facades have a special texture which refers to the Fabric function. This texture is finger- and palm-prints. We are focussing on manual work of bakers making the building looks like made of a huge piece of dough with human hard-working and participation. Facades are transparent for sunlight although they look like one common surfaces from outside view.
Another type of facade reminds the structure of the cut bread. It has two layers. The second one gives depth and expression.
Thus we are using different facade structures which bring to mind about production and give expressive and modern look to the entire building.
The new appearance of the Fabric suppose to become a symbol of the industrial area it's located in. We assume to renovate the nearby area increasing and enhancing quality of the recreation zones in the same time dividing them from the parking area.
