Textile Factory Office: An Oasis in an Industrial zone Completed in 2023 in Da Nang, Viet Nam, this project is a groundbreaking redefinition of industrial architecture. In a context where textile manufacturing facilities often overlook the quality of the working environment, we transformed the rigid factory office into a green oasis, a space that nurtures and prioritizes human health. CONCEPT AND INNOVATION The architectural language is inspired by the traditional image of the loom. We created an intersecting beam-column concrete structural frame, similar to the wooden frame of a loom, and placed monolithic concrete office blocks "sliding" on top, creating a unique visual effect that breaks the monotony of industrial construction. The combination of the robust structure and soft green elements establishes a new architectural language that celebrates the textile craft. SUSTAINABLE AND SOCIAL VALUE The building is a green structure: 1. Health & Ecology: Gardens and atriums are interspersed throughout the functional floors and connecting corridors. This creates a refreshing green buffer zone, optimizing natural light and convection airflow, which helps reduce heat and regulate the air. The primary goal is to counteract the stress and monotony of the industrial environment by ensuring workers can relax and connect with nature from anywhere within the building 2. Equity & Transparency: The design breaks the traditional hierarchical system by creating a shared green core space situated between the Office block and the Workshop. Floor-to-ceiling glass partitions and continuous sightlines along the length of the building ensure unlimited connection and transparency across all levels of work. This fosters a culture of respect, social equity, and closeness between management and workers. 3. Heritage: The structure reinforces pride among textile workers, demonstrating that modern design can bridge traditional heritage and a human-centered industrial future. The project is a powerful statement about the future of industrial workspaces in Southeast Asia.
