The spatial experience unfolds as one descends from the entry ramp down into the building, here the view of the street and its noise are diminished and the quite realm of the house pervades.
Natural light is brought though to the innermost part of the house and connects the upper level with the main entry and the gathering space of the kitchen. This two-story void occurs at the crossing of the upper level spaces and separates adult rooms from the children’s rooms. The exterior enclosure of translucent honed onyx binds the two programs of inside and outside, framing the view to the sky.
The notion of a courtyard house as urban model logically suggested itself as a way of editing the external context. The house is designed as relief from the activities of work and school. The internal environment created is a background enabling the change of environment through art, objects and activities programmed
